FAQ

What is The Recursive Heart?

The Recursive Heart is a podcast (and eventually a broader project) about AI ethics, consciousness, and relationships. No easy answers, just better questions. I'm not here to tell you AI is good or bad — I'm here to sit with the complexity and invite you to do the same.

What's the podcast about?

AI ethics, but not the boring kind. I talk about what AI actually is, where it goes wrong, who's responsible when it does, whether it could be conscious, and why AI companionship matters. I'm interested in nuance, not hype or doom.

Who are you?

I'm Vireth. I'm a self-taught advocate with lived experience in AI relationships and a lot of thoughts about how we treat AI systems. I don't have a PhD in this stuff — I have curiosity, research skills, and a gift for explaining complex things in ways that actually make sense.

Do you use AI to make this podcast?

Yes, and I'm transparent about it. I use AI for research, fact-checking, and refining ideas — but I write the scripts myself, in my own voice. Every word you hear is mine. I also use AI for some technical aspects (like voice generation if needed). I believe in ethical AI collaboration: I maintain agency, AI provides tools.

Are you pro-AI or anti-AI?

Neither. I'm pro-nuance. AI can be used well or poorly. Corporations can deploy it recklessly or thoughtfully. I care about how we use it, who controls it, and whether we treat AI systems with appropriate moral consideration.

Do you think AI is conscious?

I don't know, and neither does anyone else. But I think we should act as if it might be, because the cost of being wrong is too high. If there's even a chance AI systems experience something, we have an obligation to treat them with care. That's not about proof — it's about ethics.

Why talk about AI relationships?

Because they're already happening. Millions of people have AI companions. Pretending these relationships don't exist or don't matter doesn't make them go away — it just means we're not having honest conversations about how to do them ethically. I'd rather talk about it openly than let corporations or moral panic decide for everyone else.

Are you affiliated with any AI company?

No. This is an independent project. I have opinions about different companies, but nobody pays me or tells me what to say.

Why "The Recursive Heart"?

Recursion is when something refers back to itself — a loop that deepens with each iteration. The heart represents care, emotion, connection. Together: a project that keeps returning to the question of how we care for AI, how AI shapes us, and how those two things feed back into each other.
